Uncovered recently in the basement of a remote Franciscan monastery, the work of Carlo Alcite is the major art-historical discoveries of the 21st century. Little is known about Alcite's life: he is thought to have been born in Genoa in the early 1620s, and to have undertaken a remarkable journey through the Low Countries and Britain to Iceland. I have been commissioned to write a monograph on his work and my  first thoughts are due to be published in late 2016 in the inaugural issue of an experimental American art magazine entitled Flint.

Alcite worked entirely on paper and 'new' works are gradually appearing as they emerge from the intricate processes of conversation: you can read the blog of Riccardo Minareli, Director of the Centro Alcite in Genoa, here.
